Health Quest Medical Practice’s bariatric team recently added a clinician who specializes in medical weight loss for people struggling with obesity.
Jennifer Scheffler, who holds a doctor of nursing practice degree, sees patients in the medical practice’s general surgery office on the campus of Northern Dutchess Hospital. The board-certified family nurse practitioner will focus on individualized non-surgical weight loss options for patients who don’t qualify for bariatric surgery or prefer a non-surgical approach.
“It’s my goal to help each patient find their personal path to weight loss success by using science to study their metabolism and genetics, as well as healthy eating, physical activity and medications for a lasting healthier lifestyle,” Scheffler, of Hopewell Junction, said.
Previously, Scheffler was with SCL Health’s St. Mary’s Medical Center in Colorado as the lead clinician of bariatric and obesity medicine management. She also spent three years in Texas as a bariatric surgical nurse practitioner, where she worked with bariatric surgeon Dr. Garth Davis at The Davis Clinic in Houston from 2016-2018. She clinically specializes in both obesity medicine management and bariatric surgery.
Scheffler received her doctorate from Walden University in Minneapolis with summa cum laude distinction and her master’s degree in nursing from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash. She is also a US Air Force veteran.
