Nuvance Health Ambulance

Danbury Hospital works in partnership with Danbury Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to provide emergency care and transportation to members of our community and surrounding areas. We are the 911 paramedic ambulance provider for the City of Danbury, as well as providing paramedic services to Bethel, Redding, Newtown, New Fairfield, Sherman, Kent, Roxbury, Washington, Bridgewater and Warren. Our response times can be faster than the national average and, when necessary, life-saving care begins the moment we arrive.

Nuvance Health Ambulance

Nuvance Health has recently added ambulance and non-emergent transportation services to its network offerings in Western Connecticut. With these expanded services, we now offer a wide range of patient conveyance and inter-facility capabilities, such as basic and advanced life support ambulance; Specialty and critical care transport; wheelchair services; and non-emergent transfers 24 hours a day/7 days a week in the surrounding area and parts of NY. Nuvance Health Ambulance also provides mutual aid resources and ambulances to the City of Danbury and surrounding towns.

Education and Training

Danbury Hospital EMS has a robust professional, continuing, and community education mission. We are an American Heart Association Training Center. We offer premier EMT classes at Danbury Hospital in partnership with surrounding agencies. Our courses feature experienced providers in a supportive learning environment that includes a simulation lab, ED rotations and ambulance ride time. Teaching opportunities are available to our EMS staff.

Danbury Hospital Emergency Medical Services and Opportunites

Our EMS/paramedic service provides advanced, out-of-hospital care by state-licensed paramedics and certified emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Our services include:

  • Immediate care:
    In constant contact with emergency physicians and nurses, our skilled paramedics and EMTs begin delivering care on the spot, saving valuable minutes by providing advanced monitoring, medications and interventions on scene and in transit.
  • Ambulances equipped with advanced technology:
    Considered “mini intensive care units on wheels,” our ambulances feature sophisticated medical technologies and equipment, including PowerLoad systems, LifePak 15 cardiac monitors and Hamilton T1 ventilators.
  • Collaborative care:
    Patients appreciate knowing that the EMS team who cared for them on the way to the hospital works collaboratively with the emergency department and facility staff to make a smooth, comfortable transition.
  • Specialty care/critical care transport courses: 
    We provide advanced training and certifications that allows our paramedic providers to operate under broader scope of practice. We also have several specialized teams and services like our tactical EMS providers, who work in conjunction with our emergency services unit, event standby operations, marine operations, community education and more.
