Sharon Hospital President Christina McCulloch has been recognized as a 2024 110 Rural Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know by Becker’s Hospital Review, a nationally renowned trade magazine whose insights are sought out by medical professionals across the country. McCulloch has been lauded for her exceptional leadership and community partnerships since becoming president in July 2022.

Rural hospitals and health systems bring healthcare services to remote areas that might otherwise lack access. According to Becker’s, the CEOs featured on the list are expanding service lines, hiring talented caregivers, improving facilities through renovations and new construction and much more. The list honors executives who wear many hats and are deeply committed to improving their communities. These individuals are essential to the success of the rural hospitals they helm.

“It is an honor to be recognized among my peers,” McCulloch said. “I am inspired every day by the incredible team we have at Sharon Hospital who, together, continue to provide five-star care to our region in a variety of ways.”

McCulloch has been a clinician for over 20 years and a leader at Sharon Hospital for 14. She was the chief nursing officer of Sharon Hospital before her current role as president. She has led the enhancement and development of integral services in the local community, including launching telemedicine and expanding access to care in an environment where digital healthcare was very limited.

McCulloch is a board member of the Northwest Connecticut Chamber of Commerce, a Rural Health Workgroup Member of the Connecticut Comptroller’s Healthcare Cabinet and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
