One year ago, Bryan Orser thought skydiving was unrealistic due to his weight, which was 400 pounds at his heaviest. When traditional diets and exercise left the Catskill, NY, resident discouraged, he knew a team with expertise in nutrition counseling and weight-loss management could help him develop balanced habits to lose weight and keep it off.

“I wanted to rebuild my health and enthusiasm for life’s adventures,” said Orser, who felt plagued by frequent exhaustion, sugar cravings and low energy. “When weight began to limit how I played and engaged with my son, Camden Eli, I knew a change needed to be made.”

Six months after a gastric sleeve procedure with bariatric surgeon Dr. Vadim Meytes and his team at Northern Dutchess Hospital, the lumberyard worker has lost 179 pounds and is just shy of reaching 200, his weight-loss goal.

Feeling more motivated than ever before, his peers and clients often compliment his avid determination at work. As a family, making homemade meals is a newfound bonding activity rather than chore, and Orser’s bucket list of adventures has grown.

“I’m living life to the fullest — I’m ready to join our local softball league and make the jump to my next adventure – skydiving!” he added.
