Nuvance Health names new Chief Human Resources Officer

Kathryn (Katie) Cullinan was recently named to an expanded leadership role as Chief Human Resources Officer for Nuvance Health, a seven-hospital system in western Connecticut and the Hudson Valley of New York.

In her new role, Cullinan, who has 25 years of experience as a Human Resources professional, assumes leadership oversight of the Human Resources function and serves as a key member of the executive leadership team. She was promoted from her role as Vice President of Strategic Business Partnering & HR Governance, where she led the harmonization of key HR policies and processes during the integration of Nuvance Health.

“Katie’s proven leadership skills and vast knowledge of workforce development and performance management will continue to elevate the culture of Nuvance Health through a collaborative and engaging environment for our employees across all disciplines,” said Dr. John M. Murphy, President and CEO of Nuvance Health. “She has been vital in the growth and integration of Nuvance Health, and we are excited for her to take this critically important leadership position to help shape and grow our organization into the future.”

Cullinan began working for Western Connecticut Health Network in 2016 as a Senior HR Business Partner. She has held progressive HR leadership positions throughout her career, including generalist and HR operational roles in manufacturing, hospitality, financial services and healthcare. She previously managed large complex acquisitions, divestitures and integrations for GE Capital.

“It is an honor to advance our work and culture together with a diverse and talented group of colleagues across our health system – all whom share a commitment to make Nuvance Health a leading employer and exceptional place to work,” Cullinan said. “It is a privilege to be entrusted with this opportunity to help our staff and organization reach their personal and organizational goals.”

A resident of Bethel, Conn., Cullinan holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The Catholic University of America and a Masters of Business Administration in Organizational Behavior and Development from George Washington University.
