Nuvance Health is a proud sponsor of the American Heart Association’s 2022 Go Red for Women Celebration and equally thrilled that the organization’s very own Monique Corcoran is this year’s chair of the campaign.

Corcoran is director of operations for the Nuvance Health Heart and Vascular Institute West and sees chairing the Go Red initiative an important component of spreading the message of treatment and prevention against cardiovascular disease.

“We’re seeing that cardiovascular disease is becoming more and more prevalent and that COVID really accelerated it,” Corcoran said. “Some people are predisposed to cardiovascular disease, but much of it is preventable. There is a lot that people can do, and the Go Red for Women Celebration will provide a lot of information that people can put into action.”

Corcoran has worked at The Heart Center, a division of Hudson Valley Cardiovascular Practice, P.C. that is part of Nuvance Health Medical Practice, for more than three years and oversees 11 locations, 38 cardiologists, 20 nurse practitioners and physician assistants, who serve close to 10,000 patients per month.

Corcoran said she is motivated by Go Red’s theme of “Reclaim Your Rhythm” and in reaching working mothers. The Go Red celebration is being held on Friday, Nov. 18 at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park.

“Working moms are the group that are the most susceptible to developing heart disease. They are working full time, raising their families and put themselves last, always,” she said. “We need to really look at how we can support working mothers, not just during the first few months of a baby’s life, but forever.”
