One of the first family medicine residency graduates of Nuvance Health recently joined a family practice in Modena, Ulster County.
Dr. Rabjot Kaur “Nikki” Rai is Nuvance Health Medical Practice’s newest family doctor and will see adults and children.
The Toronto, Canada, native’s lifelong dream was to be a physician.
“My passion drove me to enter medical school, but it was my volunteer work that fueled me,” she said. “Building relationships and advocating for preventive care were the qualities of medicine I cherished through my extracurricular activities.”
During her residency rotations at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, Dr. Rai stood out as a leader, earning her the chief resident honor. Now she looks forward to being one of the region’s top doctors.
“I have always had a great relationship with my primary care provider, as she was someone I trusted, confided in and collaborated with,” she said. “This is the type of relationship I would like to mirror with my patients.”
