A Fairfield County native and former trauma nurse joined Nuvance Health Medical Practice to provide primary care in Brookfield.

“I have many nurses in my family and always looked up to them growing up,” family nurse practitioner Alison Winsor said.

Winsor spent the past two years as a primary care nurse practitioner with Hartford HealthCare Medical Group in Stamford, Conn.

Leading up to the pandemic, she also gained valuable hands-on experience at Stamford Hospital’s trauma center, where she helped care for patients with life-threatening medical emergencies as well as sick children.

“Working in the ER I saw so many different things, so it was really great exposure,” she said. “Now I am comfortable in assessing what is an emergency and how to act fast.”

Board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Winsor completed her master’s degree in nursing at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC.

In 2020, the Ridgefield, Conn., native moved to Newtown, Conn., with her husband and daughter. In their free time, they enjoy the beach and skiing.

“I like working close to where I currently live and grew up. I feel more connected to the community,” she said.

She also speaks German, having studied abroad and vacationed there several times.

“I started studying German in high school because I have family there,” she said.

Brookfield’s Nuvance Health Medical Practice is at 401 Federal Road. Learn more about Alison Winsor or book an appointment.
