The Joint Commission issued certification for providing high-quality, safe procedures.

Danbury Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Certification in total hip and knee replacement surgery by demonstrating continuous compliance with rigorous performance standards. The Gold Seal reflects Nuvance Health’s commitment to providing high-quality, safe joint replacements.

The Joint Commission thoroughly reviewed Danbury Hospital’s joint replacement program and key performance indicators of patient safety and quality care, including excellent post-operative outcomes, short length of hospital stays and low readmission rates. In addition to the data collected, a Joint Commission reviewer performed an onsite review and observed and interviewed total hip and knee replacement staff and patients.

Danbury Hospital’s advanced certification in joint replacement showcases our surgeons and team’s commitment to top-notch, evidence-based care, leading to better outcomes and greater confidence for patients,” said Dr. Sanjay Gupta, medical director of the total joint program at Danbury Hospital.

To be eligible for the certification, organizations must implement evidence-based care and clinical practice guidelines for total joint replacements.

I am inspired by the efforts from our team to obtain this certification, which only confirms what we already know: Total joints are in the hands of true experts and high-quality support staff at Danbury Hospital,” said Dr. Justin Paul, section chief of orthopedic surgery at Danbury Hospital.

The certification, offered in collaboration with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, helps organizations provide consistent communication and collaboration among all healthcare providers involved in the care of joint replacement patientsincluding orthopedic surgery office staff and surgeons, operating room and post-operative care teams, and outpatient services such as rehabilitation.

Danbury hospital has always been a top performer for safe and effective total joint replacement surgery. This certification reinforces our commitment to excellence,” said Dr. Daniel Labow, system chair of surgical services at Nuvance Health and chair of surgery at Danbury Hospital and its New Milford Hospital campus.
