Do I meet the Criteria for a lung Cancer Screening?

Medicare will cover lung cancer screening with low dose CT once per year for Medicare beneficiaries who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Are 50–80 years of age

  • Are a current smoker or have quit within the last 15 years

  • Have tobacco history of at least 20 pack-years

A pack year is smoking an average of one pack of cigarettes per day for one year. For example, someone could have a 20 pack-year history by smoking one pack a day for 20 years or two packs a day for 10 years.

Lung cancer Screening can Save lives

Lung cancer remains the number one cause of death in the country. Recent national surveys estimate that only 18% of the population is up-to-date on lung cancer screening. At Nuvance Health, we have a team of skilled doctors available who can ensure seamless access to comprehensive lung cancer screening.

Patients referred for screening will receive a comprehensive shared decision-making evaluation including their initial low dose screening CT scan. Enrolled patients will be followed longitudinally by a multidisciplinary team of specialists.

Breathe Easy: Top-Notch Lung Nodule Monitoring

As more people get screened for lung cancer, finding incidental pulmonary nodules has become more common. While most of these lesions are harmless, some patients require surveillance or intervention.

Suspicious nodules will be reviewed by a conference of multidisciplinary lung specialists and scheduled for the appropriate surveillance or intervention.
