Nuvance Health’s flagship New York hospital receives multiple awards for quality care
Vassar Brothers Medical Center (VBMC) has been recognized with an America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award™ for consistently delivering exceptional, comprehensive quality healthcare. This achievement places VBMC in the top 1 percent of all hospitals in the country for quality. This is the third consecutive year VBMC has achieved this recognition.
Healthgrades evaluates hospital quality for conditions and procedures to help consumers understand, compare and evaluate hospital performance. To determine America’s Best Hospitals, Healthgrades reviewed clinical quality outcomes for 31 conditions and procedures at nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide.

VBMC is a 350-bed facility that has served New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley since 1887. Located in Poughkeepsie, NY, VBMC has a Level II Trauma center, a cardiothoracic surgery center and the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the region for premature, underweight and critically ill infants. VBMC opened a 752,000-square-foot, eight-level inpatient pavilion with 264 private medical/surgical patient rooms and 30 critical care rooms in January 2021. Learn more about VBMC.
